Backchanneling
*Goes on in the background and provides a way to get feedback and ask questions.
*May be more useful when doing professional development with teachers than using it with students.
Today’s backchannel is: https://todaysmeet.com/TechieTeachers
*Forms- Surveys are a good way to gauge students’ background knowledge, get feedback on a lesson, or check for whole group comprehension.
*Presentations- can be done with multiple students as group work, across grades, across classes.
TinyURL- a shorter url makes it easier for students to go to websites that you assign
Example-
Pixlr- Like photoshop and has many of the same features. You can add words to pictures or have students edit and label pictures.
Interactive Graphic Organizers- Students can type right on the organizer and then print them out.
Kahoot -Students use a game pin to connect to a game you create. You can also play or edit games that are already created. At the end of each game you can get a report of what questions the students are missing.
Chorewars- Kids compete to finish classroom tasks. Kids earn points for things like erasing the white board, finishing homework on time, or reading a novel. They can compete across grades or classes.
My StoryMaker: Use this website to have students write their own stories. They are given characters, story ideas, and a guide to help them write fun stories. When they are done, they get a “secret code” to share or go back to view their books.
Smore: Easily create newsletters to send out to parents. This could also be a fun way for students to practice writing.

ComicBook Camera- Students can take pictures of themselves then add text and conversation bubbles to the picture.
Rover - This is a free web browser that lets you show flash content like things from Raz-Kids, BrainPOP, Starfall, and other sites that don’t work in Safari.
MadLibs- The fun game from our school days is on the iPad. Students practice parts of speech.
Socrative: This is a clicker app or website. Teachers create questions and students use the internet or device to answer the questions. The questions need to be on a presentation or asked verbally. Students can download an app or use the internet.
